Update from Gressier, Haiti – Letter from Marlene Berthelot

Hi Katty,
Please know your family, New Jersey Central Christian Church and anyone associated with Hope Worldwide are always welcome in our home. You guys have been a key factor to our survival and I mean that. The devil can be very busy sometimes.Pastor and I both know where our hearts and passion lie, we also know it will not be easy but God will always send honest people our way.

Katty, we began to receive 600.00 per month for 10 months, for the school year from Hope Worldwide to pay for some of the school expenses. The children have uniforms, they look great, happy and are working hard. We took them to a fieldtrip in Kenscof (Mountains of Haiti), they hard so much fun. We have you to thank for that. It is truly a great help, Anael and Mona (Hope Haiti Directors) are just fantastic, we are looking to a great working relationship. I purchased a good vehicle to ship to Haiti this week with the help of our Spain supporters. Honey , life in Haiti is not what it seems. I am convinced Haiti is the most expensive and difficult country on the face of the earth. I am hopeful and pray that, things really change for the best for the sake of the children and the poor people.

Love,
Marlene

Support for HOPE worldwide school in Guatemala City

Next week (August 18th), my wife, daughter and I are going to travel to Guatemala to do volunteer work at a HOPE worldwide school in Guatemala City. It is a yearly Medical Brigade trip that is organized for this area where doctors give approx 200 children free medical services.

As volunteers, we are looking to take with us some needed supplies for the project.

We want to see if anyone is interested in helping out with some supplies we are gathering: Sports equipment (balls, Frisbee, etc), Children’s sneakers and shoes, over the counter medicines, vitamins and children’s over the counter reading glasses and school supplies.

HOPE Saturday Academy Interest Survey

I am so excited to be home for the summer and interning with the awesome HOPE Central Jersey Chapter. One of the main things I am working towards is starting our own Saturday Academy here in Central. It would be so helpful if you could take this quick 9 question survey to let us know if you might be interested in serving with us!

You can find the survey at this link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LCQ2RHD

If you have any questions, please shoot me an email at kaycibaldwin@gmail.com

Thank you so much!

Marlene Berthelot’s visit to Central

Marlene Berthelot’s visit to the Central Jersey Church of Christ was truly inspiring. From the moment she arrived on Thursday evening the planning and discussions regarding the future began. Marlene is a savvy business woman with 20 years of experience owning and operating 3 Florida Nursing Homes. She holds a Bachelor of Science and master’s degree from Boston University. She has known the sweeter side of the American dream and even owned the Florida home of the famous Babe Ruth. She is no stranger to hard work and managing challenging and difficult situations. 36 years ago, she and co-founder Marie Jessie Pierre promised each other they would return to Haiti some day to help. This pact was made over a cup of tea.
