On Sunday May 20th the Central Jersey Church of Christ hosted the New Jersey Region of the Greater Philadelphia Church of Christ together with the New Jersey Region of the NYC Church of Christ for our first ever state-wide service. There were nearly 1,200 in attendance at this inspiring worship service.
Though our congregations met previously on different occasions, this was the first time that we met together as a state. We celebrated that disciples from our three congregations live in 18 of the 21 counties in the state of New Jersey! Yet we were humbled that there is still so much more to be done. The Garden State is the most densely populated state in the nation with 1,189 inhabitants per square mile, making up the over 8 million people who live in this great state.
In Acts 5, Gamaliel reminded the Sanhedrin that if the disciples’ purpose was from God they could not be stopped. Today we faithfully face the great challenge of spreading the gospel throughout New Jersey because we know God has given us an unstoppable purpose!
For many of us the service was a reunion and for others it was an opportunity to meet more family. The fellowship was encouraging, the worship was uplifting, and Steve Johnson’s “John Mark” presentation was a perfect way to top it all off. Steve’s performance was moving and inspiring. It was a wonderful experience we hope to repeat next year.
May God continue to mold and strengthen His disciples in the state of New Jersey to be a bright light to His glory.
